Introduction

Dr. Maile is an anesthesiologist and intensivist at the University of Michigan. As a clinician-researcher, he is passionate about the care of critically ill patients, whether this critical illness arises from infection, trauma, major surgery, or other physiologic insults. Dr. Maile works clinically at Michigan Medicine both in the adult operating rooms and the Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center Intensive Care Unit. His research spans many aspects of critical care and perioperative medicine, however, it focuses on obtaining a better understanding of the factors that lead to the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.
